Arrest made in sexual assault investigation

A 54-year-old man was arrested recently in relation to an alleged sexual assault in uptown Saint John.

Saint John police had been investigating after a call reporting a sexual assault at a business on Union Street on July 8.

A 21-year-old male alleged he was followed into a bathroom stall and sexually assaulted.

The identity of the suspect was unknown at the time.

On Oct. 15, members of the Oromocto RCMP arrested the suspect and released him on conditions.

The suspect is expected to appear in court on March 9, 2026, to answer to the charge.
