Arrest made after break-in, theft at fire hall

Police say a man has been arrested following a break-in and theft at a fire hall in Charlotte County.

Officers were called to the Lawrence Station Fire Department at around 9:15 a.m. Wednesday.

The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, police said in a news release on Friday morning.

“A short time later, at approximately 9:55 a.m., police were able to locate a vehicle of interest in connection with the incident, and the suspect was arrested at the scene,” said the release.

The accused, a 32-year-old man, was later released on a promise to appear in court at a later date.

Mounties have not said what was taken during the incident.
