Sea Dogs double-up Huskies, prepare for Charlottetown

The Saint John Sea Dogs ran their winning streak to three games with a big 6-3 win over the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies Friday night.

Playing the first of three games in four nights, Saint John was led by Jamie Glance’s two goals.

Glance opened the scoring late in the first and made it 2-0 less than a minute into the second period.

Samuel Rheault got the Huskies on the board midway through the second, before Alexis Joseph buried a rebound with seconds left in the frame to restore the two-goal lead.

William Vézina brought Rouyn-Noranda back within one, but Matyáš Čančík but the Sea Dogs back up by two seconds later.

But the Huskies refused to go away quietly, and pulled within one again with less than three minutes to pay on a backhander from Eliot Ogonowski.

A pair of empty-netters courtesy of Ryan Howard and Zach Morin sealed the deal for the home team.

Charlottetown visits Saturday

Saint John hosts the Islanders at 4 p.m. Saturday.

It’ll be the first time Sea Dogs head coach Jim Hulton faces his old team since coming to the Port City.

Charlottetown currently sits second in the QMJHL’s Eastern Conference, while the Sea Dogs are tied for fourth with Québec and Moncton.
