N.B. crews battle wildfire in Grant Settlement

An out-of-control wildfire near Grant Settlement is keeping crews busy in western New Brunswick.

The New Brunswick wildfire dashboard reports the blaze, in the Municipality of Lakeland Ridges north of St. Stephen, was detected on Monday around 2 p.m. and has burned about 20 hectares of forest.

As of Tuesday morning, the dashboard lists the fire as out of control but 80 per cent contained and notes it is not classified as a fire of note.

A second wildfire in the same area, near Jigger Road, is shown on the dashboard as four hectares in size and is contained.

The province’s wildfire dashboard also shows that almost all of New Brunswick is under a no-burn advisory, with only a small area along the Bay of Fundy excluded from the ban.
