Sidney Lea Urquhart

2007 – 2026

With heavy hearts, the family of Sidney Lea Urquhart, cherished daughter of Gary Urquhart (Gail) and Tracy Foster (Carter), announce her sudden passing, alongside her beloved boyfriend, Hunter Green, on Saturday, July 18, 2026, in Grand Manan, New Brunswick.

Born on July 19, 2007, in Saint John, New Brunswick, Sidney was a spirited young woman whose love of life infected everyone fortunate enough to know her. From her vibrant sense of fashion to the way she brought colour into the world around her, Sidney lived boldly and authentically. Her kind heart and willingness to be wonderfully silly just to make someone smile will always be remembered.

Growing up on Grand Manan Island, Sidney formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. The close-knit community gave her lifelong friends, many of whom she considered family. Sidney had a lot of love to give and gave it wholeheartedly.

Sidney’s early school years were filled with friends, basketball, volleyball, and enjoyed travelling to other towns and cities with her teams. She treasured the friendships she made, and the many memories shared with classmates, teammates, and coaches that would remain close to her heart. The experiences of growing up together in a small community shaped the caring and loyal person she became.

After graduating Grand Manan Community School, the small-town island life couldn’t hold her strong spirit back. She naturally gravitated toward bigger city life in Saint John, New Brunswick where she attended Infinite Beauty Academy and enrolled in the Cosmetology program. It was here that her creativity and artistic talents flourished, experimenting with many innovative hair techniques. This wasn’t just a fun new experience for her, but also for her many family members who she loved to use as guinea pigs for her wildly colourful hair creations.

Sidney also had many travels with friends and family, exploring coast to coast and from north to south. She visited places such as California, Florida, Prince Edward Island, and the Grand Canyon, experiencing and discovering so much along the way. Whether exploring somewhere new or revisiting her favourite places, she found joy in every adventure.

Sidney had a larger-than-life personality. She loved music, laughter, and making people smile. She was known for her spice, wit, sense of humour, and her ability to light up a room with her energy. Above all else, never hesitated to make those around her feel accepted and loved.

Though her time with us was far too short, Sidney leaves behind a lifetime of treasured memories. She will forever be remembered for her vibrant spirit, compassionate heart, boundless creativity, and the joy she brought to everyone privileged to know and love her.

In addition to her parents, Sidney is survived by her sister, Taylar Urquhart (Graeme); her step-brothers, Colton (Emily) Jardine, Nick (Coreena-Jo) Jardine, Justin Gillespie, and Ryder Foster; her grandparents, Mike and Mary Caldwell, and Larry and Bertha Urquhart; her uncles and aunts, Janica Urquhart (Dean), Joel (Jenna) Foster, Justin Foster, Tanya (Troy) MacMillan; and Micheal Outhouse; as well as many great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews who adored her, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives she touched.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A celebration of Sidney’s life will be held at Lighthouse Church on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place after the service at Maple Grove Cemetery.

For those who wish, donations in Sidney’s memory may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association – New Brunswick or the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation’s Mental Health Fund.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Phillip-Ells Jr. Memorial Funeral Centre, a service of Humphreys Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, NB, E3L 2B2 (506-466-3110).
