A vintage postcard featuring The Bijou Theater in St. Stephen
Here’s 5 interesting things you can talk about this week with your family, friends and co-workers!
1: Did you know that before it was called The Queen Theater, the location at 26 Milltown Boulevard in St. Stephen was known as The Bijou Theater? It was opened in 1915. It was renamed The Queen Theatre following a remodel in 1923.
2: Last week’s heat wave smashed several temperature records across the Maritimes, with St. Stephen reaching 34.7 degrees on Thursday.
3: The texture and shape of sand granules indicate the history of a beach. Very round grains mean the beach is older, as the sand has undergone prolonged weathering.
4: Damselflies; the smaller, slimmer cousins of dragonflies, can be found on every continent on Earth except Antarctica, and come in a vibrant array of colors – from iridescent blues and greens to blazing reds.
5: “Invisible Touch”, by Genesis, was topping the charts this week in 1986.
