Water Cooler Talk (June 29 – July 5)

Here’s 5 interesting things you can talk about this week with your family, friends and co-workers!

1: Did you know that on South Street in St. George, near the bottom of the gorge, is the remnants of a once active wharf? It was used from 1872 – 1954 by the Milne-Coutts & Co. Granite company to ship the towns famous red granite to numerous markets.

2: This Monday will mark the first full moon of summer, often called the “Strawberry Moon”. It has nothing to do with the moon’s color, however. It’s meant to mark the beginning of the short, sweet season when “June-bearing” wild strawberries are ripe and ready to be harvested!

3: The exact chemical makeup of your sweat, much like your fingerprint, is unique to you.

4: Grasshoppers have existed on Earth for more than 250 million years!

5: The first-generation Apple iPhone was released on June 29, 2007. It revolutionized the smartphone industry by popularizing touch screens and eliminating physical keypads.
