Nominations needed for N.B. district education councils

The process has begun to fill vacant seats on District Education Councils in New Brunswick.

There are vacancies in the following districts:

·         Anglophone East School District: subdistrict 4

·         Anglophone South School District: subdistricts 5, 10, 11 and 12

·         Anglophone West School District: subdistricts 7, 11 and 13

·         Francophone nord-ouest school district: subdistricts 1, 2 and 7

·         Francophone nord-est school district: subdistrict 4

Nominations can be made to the District Education Councils with the names, addresses and resumes of eligible candidates. From there, they are submitted to the Education Minister.

“We appreciate people who put their names forward to serve, and recognize that it is an important decision for them to support their local school district,” said Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Claire Johnson. “I encourage anyone interested in playing a part to reach out to their local school district to learn more about how they can serve on council.”

The Education Minister will appoint the chosen individuals.

These seats were left vacant after last month’s elections, because no one put their names forward to be elected.
