Four Saint John-area beaches temporarily closed due to E.coli

Higher levels of E. coli bacteria have closed two swimming spots in Saint John.

The city says Fisher Lake in Rockwood Park, Tucker Park Beach and Dominion Park Beach are temporarily closed.

The beaches were set to open on June 22, but will remain closed until health officials can deem them safe,

Warning signs have been posted at both locations.

The city says testing will continue and an update will be provided.

The City of Saint John says no other beaches are impacted at this time.

Meanwhile, a beach in the Kennebecasis Valley is also dealing with E. coli.

The Town of Quispamsis has closed the beach at Ritchie Lake due to high levels of the bacteria.

The high levels were found after routine water samples taken by the Department of Public Safety.

People and pets are being advised to stay away from the water.

Closure signs are in place and an update is expected in the coming days.
