1942-2026

The passing of James “John” Randolph Jones occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on April 22, 2026. Born on February 23, 1942 in Woodstock NB, he was a son of the late George and Ruth (nee McManus) Jones.

John will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Joan Clara (nee Mahoney) Jones of Saint John NB; his children, Jay (Betsy) Jones of St. George NB, Bob (Joanne) Jones of Milton ON, Deidra Jones(Rob Maran) of Skiff Lake NB, Maria Cloney( Jeff Hoskins) of Saint John NB and Colleen Crawford(Jason)  of Fredericton NB; grandchildren: Alex Lord-Jones, Ryan Jones, Isabella Jones, Julianna Jones, Dylan Jones, Trent Jones, Meghan Cloney, Liam Cloney, James Crawford and Brennan Crawford; great-grandchildren: Brooklynn Jones, Jacob Jones, Owen Jones, Gannon Cloney and Bryer Cloney; and by many nieces,nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by one brother, Wendell Jones.

Prior to his retirement, John devoted his whole career to education. He obtained his Degree in Education from the University of New Brunswick in 1960 and then went on to receive his Masters in Education from the University of British Columbia in 1980. He held many positions over the years and retired as a highly respected Superintendent with School District 10.

John’s life centered around home and family, taking the most pride in other’s accomplishments, mainly of his wife, children and grandchildren. His fondest memories that were closest to his heart were a lifetime of summers at Skiff Lake, where he was always surrounded by those he loved.

In keeping with John’s wishes, there will be no visiting or funeral service. In his memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
