Two drug trafficking arrests in Saint John

Two men are facing multiple charges after arrests in a drug trafficking investigation.

The Saint John Police Street Crime Integrated Enforcement Unit arrested a 56-year-old man and a 54-year-old man Wednesday around noon.

The men were in a vehicle when they were arrested.

After their arrests, a search of the suspects, their vehicle and a residence on Queen Street uncovered a variety of items, including:

  • 123 grams of cocaine
  • One gram of crack cocaine
  • $3,108 in Canadian currency
  • A cellphone
  • Digital scales
  • Electronic money counters
  • A baton and knives
  • Two boxes of shotgun ammunition

Police estimated the street value of the drugs to be $12,400.

The 54-year-old was the passenger in the vehicle.

He’s been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000.

He was released and will appear in provincial court on May 28.

The 56-year-old is being held in custody and will have a bail hearing in Saint John provincial court on March 30.
