Water Cooler Talk (March 16 – 22)

Here’s 5 interesting things you can talk about this week with your family, friends and co-workers!

1: Did you know that when travelling from Charlotte County to Saint John, if you look to your right at the Prince of Wales sign just past the Ducks Unlimited Marsh in Musquash, you can see the remnants of a WWII ship? There are actually two ships: US Navy vessels LSM-46 and LSM-56. Both were used in the Pacific in 1945 and were later purchased by Charles N. Wilson of Saint John to transport lumber between New Brunswick and Maine, before being abandoned in the estuary in the late 1950s.

2: Historically, the colour associated with Saint Patrick (the man) was blue, not green. Green became associated with the holiday in the 18th century; linked to Irish independence, the “Emerald Isle,” and the shamrock.

3: On average, over 3 million pints of Guinness are served every year on St. Patrick’s Day!

4: Babies are born with cartilage in the place of kneecaps; this cartilage turns into bone between ages two and six.

5: The most popular song 50 years ago this month was “December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)” by The Four Seasons.
