Fire damages home in Grand Bay–Westfield

A late‑night fire caused significant damage to a home in Grand Bay–Westfield on Saturday, according to the town’s volunteer fire‑rescue department.

Crews were called to Hall Road around 11 p.m., according to a social media post from the department.

Firefighters arrived to find the home already engulfed in flames and stayed on scene for about four and a half hours in extreme cold.

All residents were able to get out safely and are staying with family, the department said.

However, the department noted that the family lost their dog in the fire.

The cause remains under investigation, but the department said the fire is not considered suspicious.
