Care home under investigation for alleged sex offence

Saint John Police have opened an investigation into alleged sexual offences involving residents at a senior care facility in the city.

Police received information from the facility on Wednesday about alleged offences of a sexual nature.

Investigators said they believe there are multiple victims and that the suspect’s identity is known.

The incident appears to be isolated to the facility’s address.

Officers explained that the home has implemented procedures to ensure there are no ongoing safety concerns.

The police stated that the facility has informed families of affected residents and is fully cooperating with the investigation.

The Saint John Police Family Protection Unit is in the early stages of gathering information.

Police asked families who were contacted by the facility to be patient and to call 506‑648‑3303 if they have questions, noting an investigator will return calls as soon as possible.

No further details will be released at this time to protect the privacy of those involved.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Saint John Police at 506‑648‑3333 or provide an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers.
