1942-2026
With heavy hearts, the family of Muriel Bernard, age 83, of St. George, N.B., announce her passing on Wednesday, January 21 at Passamaquoddy Lodge in St. Andrews NB.
Born May 28, 1942, in Drummond, N.B., Muriel was the daughter of the late Leo and Imelda (Desjardins) Ouellette. Along with her parents, Muriel was preceded in death by her husband, John in 2017; three sisters: Edwina, Patricia, and Esther and also by one brother, Fernand.
Muriel was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who liked spending time at home cooking, gardening, sewing, and quilting. She was an exceptional cook who regularly had the smell of fresh bread and “French Stew” in her home. She loved to share her cooking with others and could always be called upon to prepare a meal. In her younger years, Muriel enjoyed get-togethers with friends, playing cards, sharing stories and visiting with her sisters. She loved camping trips, the outdoors, and had a particular passion for trout fishing.
Muriel is survived by her two daughters: Sharon (Greg) Muise and Jo-Ann (Peter) Schwarze, both of St. George, three grandchildren: Alex, Jessica (Quentin), and Kyle, two sisters: Laurette LaFrance and Mona Ouelette and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (506-755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. There will be no visitation or funeral service at this time. A graveside service will take place in the spring of 2026 at St George’s Catholic Cemetery. In Muriel’s memory, donations to a charity of donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
