Water Cooler Talk (January 12 – 18)

Here’s 5 interesting things you can talk about this week with your family, friends and co-workers!

1: Did you know that Beaver Harbour was the very first settlement in British North America to forbid slavery?

2: Whenever you hear a Chickadee, the number of “dee” notes in their call signals the level of threat nearby. More “dees” means more danger.

3: The myth that carrots make you see better at night originated from British WWII propaganda, encouraging people to eat the vegetable which could be easily grown during country-wide rationing.

4: Canadian women were dominating the music charts in January 1996, with Alanis Morissette and Celine Dion having the top 2 selling albums in North America.

5: The human body actually emits light, but it’s too faint for our eyes to register.
