Marilyn Lee Richardson

1944-2025

It is with broken hearts that the family of Marilyn Lee (Waite) Richardson announce her passing peacefully surrounded by her family at her bedside of her beloved home on Deer Island NB on November 21,2025.

Born in St. Stephen on June 201944 to the late Doug and Beatrice Waite and raised by her chosen bonus parents the late Clifford and Madeline Pendleton. Marilyn had many siblings and bonus family including Gloria, Gail, Doug, Barbara, Sandra, Lynda, Edward, and predeceased by Ralph, Ronald, Chandler, Maurice and Keith.

Marilyn adored island life and all that it brought, most especially her beloved husband of nearly 50 years Reginald Rolland Richardson, whom she wed on July 9, 1961. They welcomed daughter Lucille (Steven Cline) and son Christopher (Cathy Nee Perkins) and adored the grandchildren Ross. Travis (Ilmar), Macy (Keagan) and Riley.

Most summer days you could find Mare and Reg scouring local beaches searching for their arrow heads, boating, attending bluegrass festivals with friends, and squeezing every ounce out of life as possible. It was not uncommon to find Mare and Reg enjoying one of her fabulous meals by candle light, making every moment special. They taught us “the little things” are actually the big things.

Marilyn had far too many special friends to list but she loved them all deeply and treasured her time with them. She was involved in many community activities, but was most noted by islanders for her “5 minute visits” spending her days taking food and dropping in on the widowed, sick, elderly, or shut ins. Kindness, generosity, and love embodied her. A 50 year member of the Lord’s Cove Church of Christ, she would often be found elbows deep in the dish pan or cleaning up after a pot luck. She was famous for saying “Always be kind.”

We would like to thank the Saint John Regional staff and extra mural,  (with special kudos to nurse Kim Glennie) for all their great care of mom. Donations can be made in honour of Marilyn to the Charlotte County Cancer Society or the Lords’s Cove Church of Christ.

Resting at the Lords Cove Church of Christ with visiting on Monday from 6-8pm. The service will be held from the church on Tuesday at 2pm with Rev. Richad Hovey officiating.Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (506-755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB.>Click here to View Condolences
