If you’ve ever driven along the Didgeguash River on the Reardon Road toward the tidal basin that empties into the Passamaquoddy Bay, you’ve likely seen the set of waterfalls that mark the point where the river ends. Somewhat obscured on the rear corner of the basin, the waterfall featuring two separate vertical drops (one of which has two stacked horizontal drops as well), makes for a beautiful photo; if your camera can zoom in far enough to get it!

But, did you know that there’s a second set of falls just slightly up river? One with multiple vertical and horizontal drops! And this one you can get a much closer look at!
A true hidden gem, you can find this set of falls by heading left at the turn off from the Reardon Road onto Stillwater Road. After approximately 300 meters, you’ll notice a small ATV trail on your right. Park on the shoulder of the road and follow the trail which veers right on foot (it can be muddy!) for about 600 meters until you see the falls! Sometimes called “Middle Falls”, you’ll begin to hear them as you approach. Cascading over a large rock ledge, there are many good vantage points to see the falls in their entirety. Just remember to always watch your footing! And always leave places as clean and as green as you found them!

If you visit during fishing season, bring your rod and reel! The river is home to brook trout, white perch and smallmouth bass!
