Arrest made in Coburg Street stabbing

The Saint John Police have arrested a 23-year-old male following a stabbing Tuesday evening.

Police responded to a call of a stabbing at approximately 8 p.m. in the Coburg Street area.

Before their arrival, officers were told a 49-year-old male had gone to the hospital to be treated for a non-life-threatening stab wound.

The victim has since been released from hospital.

At approximately 8:40 p.m., police arrested the 23-year-old male for aggravated assault and held him in custody.

The suspect is expected to appear in provincial court Wednesday.

The Major Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Services are continuing the investigation.
