Everything You Didn’t Know About Green’s Point Lighthouse!

Located on the rocky cliffs of L’Etete, the Green’s Point Lighthouse has been a beacon, both literally and figuratively, of the small community for over 100 years.

Although the lighthouse was erected in 1903, a steam-powered fog horn and dwelling had existed on the point since 1878. Built for a cost at the time of $800, the octagonal tower was constructed in St. Andrews by carpenter C.L. Makeen, before being transported to Green’s Point by ship to be assembled.

A classic East Quoddy style lighthouse, its red iron lantern sitting atop its white tower is an iconic piece of Atlantic coast imagery. And set against the backdrop of the Passamaquoddy Bay, it’s easily one of the more photogenic spots in Charlotte County! Especially at sunset.

The lighthouse is also often decorated with lights each year for the Christmas season, which is most definitely worth the drive!
