Anonymous donation brings warmth to newborns at Saint John Regional

The Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation received a heartwarming anonymous donation this holiday season.

Hand-knitted baby hats and neonatal intensive care unit (NNICU) clothes were lovingly crafted and donated to newborn patients and their families.

Dr. Alana Newman, division head of neonatology, expresses their gratitude for a donation like this around the holidays.

“It’s so nice to see those little things that are so meaningful for our families and are unique to their baby and made by somebody in the community,” said Newman.

Newman said the donation they received was 90 hand-knitted baby hats and six baby boots for newborns and families.

The hospital and its foundation thanked the generous donor for fostering hope and comfort for the families during challenging times.

“We receive donations from different members of the community but this is certainly, I would say, the biggest anonymous donation I’ve seen in my time here,” she said.

If you’d like to donate items such as hats and clothing, you can reach out to the hospital’s volunteer services, who coordinate these donations.
