Two Arrested After Police Seize Drugs, Firearms

Drugs, firearms, weapons and stolen property have been seized from a home in McAdam, according to police.

Mounties said they were called to a home on Harvey Road on Jan. 28 at the request of the Department of Social Development.

“While on scene, police observed an unsecured weapon and various drugs in plain view,” police said in a news release.

Officers secured a search warrant and seized “significant quantities” of what are believed to be methamphetamine pills, crystal meth, cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl.

They also seized three handguns — including one that is prohibited — along with four other firearms, several other weapons, and money. Officer also recovered a number of stolen items, including several stolen vehicles.

A 35-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were arrested at the scene, according to police.

Clayton Townes appeared in court on Jan. 29 and was charged with possession of firearms while prohibited.

Three days later, during his next court appearance, Townes was charged with eight additional offences, including:

  • Possession of a loaded, prohibited firearm without authorization
  • Unauthorized possession of prohibited weapons
  • Unauthorized possession of firearms
  • Unsafe storage of firearms
  • Resisting arrest
  • Possession of instruments and materials intended for counterfeiting money
  • Possession of property obtained by crime of a value exceeding $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime of a value not exceeding $5,000

Townes remains in custody and has a bail hearing set for Thursday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the 25-year-old woman was released on conditions with a court date in May.
