City firefighters conducted an early morning rope rescue after a car went off the road and tumbled down toward an embankment of the Reversing Falls.
Just one of the four occupants required the rope rescue, and they were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Fire crews say the vehicle rolled over multiple times, finally stopping on a beach near Fallsview Avenue.
The rescue involved using a ladder truck like a crane to pull the injured occupant from the scene.
Acting Platoon Chief Patrick Thebeau says 17 crew members were dispatched, including the fire department’s rope access team.
He added crews were fortunate the tides were favourable at the time of the incident, and the vehicle stopped rolling short of the water, making the rescue slightly easier.
The incident was turned over to Saint John Police, and Thebeau says they are investigating.
